Why Would you Want to be a Leader?

The job of leading is tough with increasing regulation and responsibility, with increasing pressure and accountability in an increasingly complex world.

I think leadership can be a lonely place to find oneself. To some extent, I also think leadership can be a dangerous place of responsibility to find oneself especially when we add the complications of the past few years and the evolving nature of work and expectations.

🤔 🤔 🤔 So what is the answer for individual leaders....?

Collective Leadership

💯 Collective leadership with high levels of trust and great courageous conversations allow for the support and decisions necessary for any leader to manage their responsibilities.

Ensuring the leadership team is strong helps individual leaders bolster against the challenge of the role allowing for sustainable high performance, with joy and engagement.

In contrast, a leader who is feeling unsupported, unconnected, or feeling unsafe within their own peer team, is more likely to feel alone, under pressure, and out of joy. That's not sustainable, for the individual nor the wider collective. Others will be watching and learning what the sacrifices of leadership are and deciding whether or not they want it for themselves. Recruitment, retention, and succession planning become hard.

What have you got in place for your collective leadership in 2024? Team coaching or a collective leadership program may be what you need to keep your individual leaders leading with clarity, energy, and support.
