Her role is to engage individuals and teams in their most conscious (as opposed to reactive) practice, supporting and preparing them to lead together, through the complexities of our now and our future courageously.

Amy has spent over three decades developing IP on how fear restricts us and safety expands us individually and collectively.  Her team delivers a range of powerful programs and facilitates for clients including NFPs, Associations, Local Govt, State Govt, Govt Agencies, educational, and public health sectors, as well as larger and global organisations within the financial, energy, retail, conservation, and pharma industries.

She is a regular media commentator on how we can drive high performance by being courageous with the way we connect (including to ourselves), communicate, and make complex decisions for the greater good. She can be seen talking or writing about how fear and other emotions impact our choices including Harvard Business Review (HR), ABC Radio, The Australian, HR Director, AFR, CEO World and is a regular on New Zealand’s The AM Show.

Her book, The Loudest Guest: How to Control and Change Your Relationship with Fear is a game-changer for those ready to move beyond fear. This book received two awards (Silver medalist, Living Now Awards 2021; Finalist in The Australian Career Book Award, 2021) and a best seller on Amazon. It is available in all good bookstores, as an audiobook and digital form. It is also featured on Blinkist.

Her previous book, Conversations Create Growth is a time saver for all managers who want to foster growth through every conversation they have.

Originally from London in the UK, Amy lives in Melbourne, Australia, with her young family. She loves chasing her fears regularly on the soccer pitch.

Our success, individually and collectively, is limited by avoidance, defensiveness, and abstinence.

My programs ensure we turn towards these behaviours which emerge from fear (flight, fight, fawn, freeze), so that fear isn’t the guiding principle used in decision-making about our actions or our conversations at work.

Our actions must be courageous to create the impact we strive for.
— Dr Amy Silver

Client Testimonials

Amy works with clients around the world.
Here’s what they have to say…

Fiona Fouvy | Head of Organisational Development

Bendigo Kangan Institute is a major training provider with campuses across Victoria. Dr. Silver's workshops with our Senior Leadership Team and mid-level leaders are part of our cultural and leadership transformation program, where we are committed to positive and supportive, high-performance leadership. Our leaders have been resoundingly impressed by Amy’s training. She is a talented facilitator who draws on her deep expertise in human behaviour to help leaders build psychological safety and to have courageous and effective conversations, with compassion. She is engaging, attuned to her audience, and uses storytelling to connect her leaders to the content. The content is grounded in science, but Amy presents it in a relatable and practical way, with actionable takeaways. She exudes optimism and non-judgment and brings lightness and fun to her workshops.  As a result, Amy consistently creates an environment where defenses seem to melt away to enable leaders to do the work of working on themselves.  Countless leaders have quietly shared with me that through her workshop, they’ve understood themselves better, and been able to see and explore blindspots. Her session with our senior leaders was a turning point in creating the shift in deepening trust and connection that we’d been working towards. She created the safety and compassion in the room that enabled this to happen.

Sarah R. | Exec

Amy was engaging and gave really practical tools to support public servants in their communication. I would love to hear more from her in the future. This was excellent and so much thought provoking content.

Johann | Founder

Without question, Amy is one of the most psychologically present, calm, disarming and clear thinking people I have come across in business. Amy used these traits and her depth knowledge of clinical psychology to coach and mentor several colleagues to attain great outcomes. Amy is also an outstanding qualitative researcher. I recommend Amy to any executive looking for a credentialed, scientific thinker to add value to talent and consumer insights functions.

Candice | Executive

Working with Amy was a fantastic experience. She challenged the thinking I had traditionally had about myself, enabling me to use a different approach to my work. She also helped me with tools that I'd not used before in managing my team which produced great results!

William | Director

Amy is charismatic, conscientious, knowledgeable and a fun person to lead groups but also an incredible asset as a coach. If you have the opportunity to work with Amy, I would take it!

Chris | Principal and Business Advisor

The work with Amy will now drive future positive behaviours within our business. Where trust is high, the partnership between stakeholders is creative, efficiency is high and growth is rapid. Doesn't this make business easier?

Dylan U. | Mine Tech Services Superintendent

From my perspective on the sessions have been a great journey for myself to travel. They have helped increase my self-awareness and presented tools that I can use to be a better version of me. There is an elevated feeling of control in adverse situations (which are many on a mine site) and there is a sense of achievement when dealing successfully with these situations

Manqing Z. | Global Head

Dr Amy was my mentor for about 12 months over seven sessions. Her guidance, encouragement and inspiration have been life-changing. It's such an incredible journey to know myself and live my life aligned with who I am.

Darren | Director

Amy understands how to help people bring all they have to the table. She can quickly see how people limit themselves and, in a non-threatening way, pushes them to give more. We have seen revenue increase by 37% YTD. In addition to this staff engagement has dramatically increased and attendance has been the best it’s seen since the business inception.

Bruce | Executive Managing Partner

Amy's material is focused on personal change for professional excellence through coaching and group training. Amy's style is relaxed and engaging, and she makes it easy to participate. Her depth of knowledge of psychology, human behaviour, emotional intelligence, business, and change is excellent. I personally found Amy's material to be extremely useful and very much enjoyed the coaching workshops. I recommend using Amy's services, particularly where you are wanting to develop leadership and enhance culture.

Helen | Facilitator and Coach

Amy is an extraordinarily perceptive practitioner and facilitator, able to get to the nub of people's concerns, needs and wants both rapidly and elegantly. Quietly confident and assured, she is never overbearing, yet provides strong and certain guidance to help people navigate their way to a more fulfilling professional and personal life. Her light touch, yet robust psychological approach, is a delight to observe and experience.

Mei Lim | Director

We recently worked with Amy to help us determine our strategic direction. How glad we were to have Amy. She was outstanding, focused, efficient and really took the time to understand what we were trying to achieve.

Alessandra | Founder

I have had the pleasure of knowing Dr Amy Silver for the past 10 years. Throughout this time she has provided ongoing, invaluable professional support to myself and my clinical team to unlock conviction-based, fearless leadership and build trust, quickly, for effective patient-practitioner rapport. I highly recommend her if you're looking to increase the impact you have on your team and clients.

Azrin O. | Event Producer

It’s always a pleasure working with Dr Amy Silver who is one of our Evolve speakers at Sit-Down Hybrid series. She sparkles and shines on stage while capturing the audiences attention with her talks on overcoming Fear. She is quite inspirational and we love having her at our events!

Carla W. | Senior Manager

Dr Amy Silver- was absolutely awesome and one of the most useful speakers I’ve had the chance to listen to. I have attended a few training sessions on various subject recently, and by far Dr Amy provided the most practical and useful advice I’ve heard in a long time. I wish she could have spoken for longer.

Luke F | HR Generalist

Dr Amy’s session was akin to counseling, being more experiential than regular corporatetraining and she presented perspectives that really struck me, shifting the way I think and how I perceive myself. There were so many ‘light bulb moments. Thank you to Dr Amy for facilitating and UniSuper for offering the opportunity to not just participate in self-development, but to learn to be a better version of myself. I’m enjoying the learning journey with Dr Amy’s book, The Loudest Guest, and highly recommend snagging yourself a copy!

Paul | Director/Owner

We engaged Amy to help us understand the blocks and strengths for our growing business. Amy conducted in-depth interviews with key stakeholders across our business, and with each Partner. She created a comprehensive report which highlighted the critical issues so when we met for our Partner strategy day, we were in a good position to cut through to needed actionable items rather than spending time on a review.  Amy facilitated, enabling us to talk through our ideas, concerns and what we need to aim for in order for our business to continue in its succession. Because of our work with Amy we are now in a position to move forward in our succession plan and achieve our goals.

Steve | Partner

Without hesitation, I recommend and endorse Amy Silver. She remains one of the most approachable and professional facilitators I have come across. She effortlessly puts participants and clients at ease with her application of psychology and gets the most out of everyone in the room. She commands respect and attention and I would welcome Amy to lead and achieve the greatest outcome possible for any projects.

James Bennett-Levy | Professor

Prior to becoming an independent consultant, Amy was a highly respected clinical psychologist in Oxford UK. Amongst other things, she contributed two excellent chapters to a book I co-edited (the Oxford Guide to Behavioural Experiments in Cognitive Therapy, 2004).

Rebecca | Founder

Amy's profile tells you everything you need to know about her skills, professionalism and expertise. I verify all of those things, but would like to add what she is like to work with - as often that is the thing that determines the success of a project.  Amy is engaged, interested and inquisitive. She brings energy, enthusiasm and proactive drive, delivering work with clarity, intelligent analysis and a good dose of common sense. She is a joy to work with.

Peter | Chief Executive Officer

Amy Silver is a rare combination of heart and head. She is a world class thinker and author on the art and science of influence, and how that applies to leadership and communication. She’s been to Oxford University, and has a Dr. in front of her name, so you have to be impressed with her credentials. But much more than that, she is one of the most generous souls you will ever meet, and a person of deep wisdom. She walks her talk, and shows up everywhere in her world with authenticity and courage (and occasionally with a mischievous glint in her eye). If you get a chance to work with Amy, you’d be mad not to take it.

Janine | Director

What an absolute delight Amy has been to work with. She is incredibly honest and trustworthy. She takes immense pride in her work and is dedicated to producing quality outcomes. A great team player who acts with integrity at all times.

Thomasine | Manager

Amy has a science based approach, yet also has a personable manner that achieves great outcomes for those she coaches or participants in facilitation sessions.

As a coach, Amy has a skill at being able to truly empathise and understand differing situations quickly. She uses her understanding of situations and context to recommend advice and a framework of thinking that empowers people to act on situations rationally, without losing a sense of self.

As a facilitator, Amy has an exceptional toolkit of techniques that she applies effectively across multiple types of topics and challenges. She has a gift for distilling complex issues into a set of structured and chronological exercises that summarises key issues and present recommendations

Sally | Manager

Amy is truly a leader in her approach to personal strategy, authenticity, and influence. Her approach is one of engaging calmness and her ability to identify and work through the "real" issues is remarkable.  I have been fortunate enough to work with Amy one-on-one for an extended period and the empowerment, skills, and lessons that I've taken away from Amy's mentorship have had a profoundly positive impact across both my professional and personal life.
