Time to Rethink How to Encourage Others

Have you ever noticed the word courage hiding in en-courage?

The prefix 'en' means 'to put into'.

So, to en-courage another person is put courage into them.

If you truly want to encourage someone, don't simply tell someone 'you can do it!'.

When you next want to encourage someone remember that you are looking for ways to help them be courageous.

Focus on what will help them feel safe enough to travel forward alongside the fear. Focus on the experiments that will support the new behaviour. And focus on how these experiments change their relationship with fear.

Go forth and en-courage!
